Here are some useful information regarding marrying in China which The MyChinaLove.Net Team would like to share with our
  members.

Step by step guide on marrying a Chinese woman in China

The following information was provided by one of our men member. It shows the process and documents which he must acquire prior to going to China to marry his fiancee. As information regarding getting married in China is quite scattered in the Internet, the MyChinaLove.Net Team have decided to publish it. We hope it will make it easier for other men members in the future.

For Malaysian citizen living in the United Kingdom:
  1. Get your decree absolute if still married
  2. Apply for Single Status Certificate at Malaysian High Commission. Present your passport and I.C. plus a photocopy of each. Once they are verified, you will be given a cover letter (Surat Akuan) to fill up at the counter. When you collect your Surat Akuan, you will also be given a Form JPN.KC09. Fill up the form and send both documents including a certified copy of your decree absolute to a person who will do the followings for you in Malaysia:
    • Apply for Single Status Certificate at Jabatan Pendartaran Negara at Putra Jaya
    • Legalise all the documents at Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Putra Jaya
    • Legalise all the documents at the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia
  3. Prepare Statutory Declaration letter and get it attested by a notary public in the UK
  4. Legalise decree absolute (if divorced) and Self Declaration Letter at the Foreign Office in Milton Keynes
  5. Legalise both documents again at the Legalisation Office of the Chinese Embassy
  6. Translation: I got all my documents translated by Wuhan University recommended by the Wuhan marriage office in China at 100 Yuan per document. They translated all my documents in 2 hours. Please check with the local marriage office which you are going to get married whether they provide translation service first before you decide to do it in China

For British citizen:

The process is the same as above except in No. 2, you apply for the UK Certificate of Non Impediment (CNI) instead of the Single Status Certificate at your local registrar.
